Project Brief
Looking for business associates interested in purchasing telecom, construction and transport equipment from the Czech Republic & Hungary. We are creating a list of potential clients from these industries, with the aim to give them a platform to network with others in the industry. After reviewing the requirements of the client we will mail them business contacts who could help them with their specific business needs. We will ask them to provide details like name, email, phone, website address and their specific interest. Search Engine Marketing is the easiest and fastest way to hit the necessary TAs based on their search intentions.

Hungary
Selling friends will be tough in Hungary because most people prefer speaking Hungarian in casual conversation. Hungarian is a tough language so don't want to risk online translators here. (Hungarian - a very special language, originating from the Finnougric tribe of languages. The language is also called 'Magyar' and is particulary difficult to learn because of its complex grammatical structure and its vocabularly from Asia.

So am going to try selling businesses....
Tried a few searches in google.hu…turns out most websites and ads are in Hungarian….hmmm gotta try something else .
After trying Google Trends which I didn’t find too helpful, I found something more useful.
Zeitgeist
Gives me the top 10 queries last month in Hungary.
Hungary - Top Gaining Queries: May 2007
1. nokia 8800
2. Cascada
3. dave gahan
4. vöröskereszt (red cross)
5. cosmopolitan
6. vlc player
7. ingyenjáték (free game)
8. totalcommander
9. keresztszemes (cross stitch)
10. rendezvény (event)
11. üvegtégla (glass brick)
12. nevek jelentése (meaning of names)
13. regcleaner
14. dubrovnik
15. manson
Now I just have to figure what they mean!!!
http://www.google.hu/search?hl=hu&q=nokia+8800&btnG=Google+keres%C3%A9s&meta=
A search for nokia 8800 shows that 8 results in top 10 are in Hungarian!!! Worse off no one seems to be showing any sponsored links here...
Other searches show similar results....
Need to figure something else out...must get more info about the market
Hungary Stats
Population : 2 million
Urban population ratio : 60 percent
Non Resident Hungarians : 5 million (Could target remittance to Hungary)
ECONOMY
Industry: mining, metallurgy, construction materials, processed foods, textiles, chemicals.
Agriculture: wheat, corn, sunflower seed, potatoes, sugar beets; pigs.
Exports: machinery and equipment, other manufactures, food products, raw materials. (http://www3.nationalgeographic.com/places/countries/country_hungary.html)
Some useless sites later.......
Some Gyaan I picked up along the way
The Hungary market has a lot of FDI coming in.
A lot of companies coming from outside set up shop here.
Ideally these companies would have foreign employees who do not speak Hungarian.....
(fingers crossed at this thought)
So there should be a B2B English speaking search market in this segment
So I explore more into this
(http://www.tdctrade.com/emergingmarketguide/2-2.htm )

Realized that Hungary has some manufacturing industries and they import a lot of equipments.
As can be seen here max imports are machinery and transport equipment.
Possible Businesses
1) Telecom equipment and parts 2) Construction Equipment 3) Transport equipment
Since most people advertising here are from abroad(I'm assuming) these ads should not be in Hungarian.....lets give it a shot...

Yippie...all 3 have some English cpc ads....so there is a market....

Long live Search
So I've just attended the 1st class of the course on Search conducted by IAMAI.
Pretty neat to hear the biggies in the Search Industry give their views especially for a guy who believes in the medium.
My first interaction with guys heading Pinstorm, EBrandz, Communication2...overwhelming to say the least.
The course looks promising...hope to pick up as much as I can as it progresses. Even the class is pretty diverse. Will help us look at our learning from different perspectives.
Anyways now down to serious business
We're given a project to get about 100 leads using Google Ad Words....and like a smart ass I go and select (wasn't really my choice, I promise) markets like Hungary and Czech!!!
So now am about knee deep in ice cold water and trying to see if I can catch a glimpse of hope....
Let me not waste time (been really short on it lately) and read about my TGs.
Gotta try and figure if there is something I can sell...
Till next time
ciaos
PS: Any kind of help will be welcome....
